Back from New Zealand! But want to go back....!
Hi,
I'm back from New Zealand and as you can guess, have had an amazing time. To keep it short and sweet, five of us travelled around both the north and south islands between 27th Dec 2006 and 21st Jan 2007. The country is very beautiful and I could easily go and live there! You can drive for an hour and not see another car!! Highlights included: seeing many of my relatives, popping in to see Jodi, Jonathan and Isaac, Whalewatching (Sperm whales & Dusky Dolphins), Horse riding near the glaciers, hiring bikes and cycling round the vineyards in Hawkes Bay, taking the Tranz Alpine train across the Southern Alps, walking to the face of the Fox Glacier, taking a helicopter ride up into the mountains around Mount Cook and landing on the Fox Glacier, seeing gloworms at Waitamo caves, gondola up volcano, punting on the river in Christchurch, Te Papa museum in Wellington, climbing to the top of the mount at Mount Maunganui and getting drenched by a thunderstorm at the top and loads loads more!
I have tonnes of photos (as you can imagine), the best of which I hope to add gradually! The route was as follows:
Via Hong Kong
AUCKLAND (2 nights)
HAMILTON (2 nights)
TAURANGA (1 night)
MOUNT MAUNGANUI
ROTORUA
LAKE TAUPO (1 night)
NAPIER (3 nights)
HASTINGS
WELLINGTON (2 nights)
KAIKOURA (2 nights)
CHRISTCHURCH (3 nights)
GREYMOUTH
HOKITIKA (1 night)
FOX GLACIER (3 nights)
FRANZ JOSEF
AUCKLAND
LONDON via San Francisco
Sweet As!
