My North East America Adventure....

My journey involved checking out 4 main places in the states, which meant travelling on various planes, amtrak trains, boats and having a car rental -all in TWO weeks!

Photos will be added shortly, but here is a quick run down of where we went and what my 5 work mates and myself got up to!

FIRST DESTINATION: WASHINGTON DC

Stayed at the Washington Plaza Hotel -4 nights
National Air & space Museum (saw the actual wright brothers plane)
Imax Cinema
National Building Museum (well we are all planning officers!)
Walked along the Mall -(picture the scene in Forest Gump when Jennie runs through the water in the mall reflecting pool to reach Forest -thats where I was!)
Night time bus tour of the city all lit up.
The White House (I think its smaller than Hylands!)
The Capital Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln memorial and many many many other memorials. The americans sure know how to create a good memorial -not like us.
Mount Vernon -the home of George Washington -nice to escape the city for a while!

SECOND DESTINATION: NEW YORK



Stayed at the Milford Plaza Hotel -3 nights (right near Times Square/Broadway)
Empire State Building
Circle Line 3 hour boat cruise -went past Statue of liberty
Picnic in Central Park
Ground Zero Site -very difficult to take in the scale of it all, an emotional experience
Pier 17
Shopping -Macy's, Bloomingdales e.t.c

THIRD DESTINATION: BOSTON

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel - 5 nights (5 star hotel -was pure fluk ok!)
Trolley Bus tour of the city
Harbour Cruise
Went aboard the U.S.S. Constitution Boat
Walked the Freedom Trail (a red brick route 2.5 miles around the cities various sites)
Shopping in Newberry Street
Swimming in hotel pool
Cinema -rubbish movie -sky captain
Spent a day in Rockport -lovely place near the coast
Whale watching -TOTALLY AMAZING! Saw two finbacked whales travelling together -wow is the word.

FOURTH DESTINATION: CAPE COD



Stayed at the Mariner Motor Lodge - 2 nights
Chatham
Provincetown
Barnstable
Loads of wonderful unspoilt beaches and fantastic sunsets -again -wow is the word!
Played crazy golf
went to Plymouth (not the UK!) and went aboard the Mayflower 2 (replica)


So didn't do much really -LOL!! What an action packed 2 weeks! Many many laughs, lots and lots of food, great company and only one day of rain thanks to hurricane Ivan. Where to next year guys??! Have a nice day!
